Practical guide — updated 2026
How to Open a VR Room (or Add One to Your Venue)
You don't need to open a VR center from scratch. Most of our partners added the arena to an existing venue — a bowling center, a FEC, an indoor park. This guide helps you assess space, investment and returns in under an hour.
The 6 Steps to Open Your VR Room
Assess your available space
Minimum requirement is 5×5 m (270 sq ft) with ceiling height ≥ 2.8 m. A regular space without central pillars is ideal. If you don't have a dedicated area, consider your existing arcade room or an underused commercial space.
Choose the right model
Arena VR (5×5 → 10×10 m, up to 12 simultaneous players) is the choice for permanent installations in bowling centers, FECs, and indoor parks. VR Party Box is the portable solution for events and venues without a fixed space.
Estimate your investment and ROI
With an average session at €20 per person and 4 people per session, an arena running 8 hours generates around €640/day. ROI depends on footfall and pricing — we provide a personalised spreadsheet during the consultation.
Check local regulations
There are no specific regulations for VR venues in Italy. General rules for public entertainment apply (SCIA, agibilità, fire prevention). Our team supports you with the required documentation.
Plan the installation
Installation takes 2-3 days and requires no structural work. We provide hardware, software, cabling, and staff training. Within 72 hours of installation, you're ready to open.
Launch and promote
Arena Ecosystem includes marketing tools: booking app, push notifications, loyalty system. We also provide a launch kit with graphic materials and a local promotion guide.

How much does it cost to open a VR room?
A Vortex Play turnkey VR arena starts at €36,000 for the 5×5 m model up to €69,000 for the 10×10 m, excl. VAT. The investment includes hardware, software, installation, and training. No fixed fees and no royalties: the Vortex Play Ecosystem is optional at €500/month.
Do I need a special licence or permit?
In Italy there are no specific regulations for VR venues. General regulations for public premises and entertainment centres apply (SCIA, agibilità, fire regulations). We recommend consulting your local municipality.
How long does it take to recoup the investment?
Our partners typically recoup the investment in 4-8 months, with sessions priced at €15-25 per person. Payback time depends on venue footfall and pricing applied.
Can I add the VR arena to an already open venue?
Yes, that's the most common case. Most of our partners install the arena in an existing area (arcade room, event space, underused commercial space). Installation happens without closing the venue.
